The Story of Peace and Postcards

The idea to create Peace and Postcards came to me years ago, at a time when I was desperate to find peace and purpose in my own life. I have an immense appreciate for art and beauty and an innate desire to create. I have always known that I wanted to create something that could have an impact of other people’s lives. To me, fashion is a form of art, and I think we can be intentional about what we choose to wear in order to both express ourselves and feel like the most authentic, real versions of ourselves. So I decided to create a lifestyle and clothing brand, Peace and Postcards. My goal for this brand is to create wearable art that inspires peaceful living.

As a recent college graduation, I decided it was the perfect time to really give this a go and dedicate myself to building this brand.

The first product I designed was a baseball cap with the phrase “With love, from the East Coast,” written across the front. This seemed like the perfect product to introduce people to the brand and my mission. The design takes inspiration from the lost art of sending postcards from beautiful places to loved ones far away, and the navy blue and white colorway represents the seemingly endless sea of waves and white caps that outstretch from the coastline. This hat was thoughfully designed to evoke the peace found in feeling small beside the ocean no matter where you are.

It has taken years and many failed attempts to get to even this point, but with my first sale I have a renewed sense of determination to turn this brand into something big. My hope for the future is continue to create products that reflect feelings of aliveness, nostalgia, and peace and to help you express and feel like the truest version of yourself. Secondly, I hope to build a community. The kind where you can connect with others in the comments section of a social media post or you see someone wearing a piece from the brand and start a conversation. I want you to know that there is a person behind this brand that cares for you. I’m excited and hopeful about what is to come, and I am so glad that you’re here. I hope you’ll stick around.

With love,

Catie
